The 1891 England Census

The British Government took the 1891 Census on the 5th of April 1891. This page summarises, on a household basis, all of the Inkson information from the 1891 records that has been found to date.

The records for 1891, like those for 1881, seem to be more complete than those for 1871.

In the table below, the PRO Reference is a link to an image of the relevant page of the census. A new tab will open when you click on the link, just close it to return to this page.

Frederick InksonSonblank7Durham SunderlandScholar
Margaret InksonGrandmotherWidow74Durham SunderlandblankThese three entries are an enigma : Inksons but born in Sunderland? Entries use 'ditto' a lot so something can easily be entered in error and then the error repeated.

The first is probably Cicely's mother who was Margaret Goodrick; the second probably Cicely's brother Thomas Smith Goodrick who was registered in Sunderland in the Jun quarter 1861 and hence about 29 years old at the time of the census; the third is the right age for George W Goodrick who would be Cicely's nephew.

Perhaps all three were submitted by one of Cicely's children and then the relationships make sense.
