Arthur Edward [b. 1877] Family Group

Husband
noteArthur Edward was the youngest son of Thomas Harborow Inkson and Martha, his wife, to have survived to adulthood. We don't know his exact date of birth but he was baptised on 13 Jan 1878 in the parish church of Brunham Sutton cum Ulph. He followed in the footsteps of his brother Harry Garner, joining the army when he was 18 in 1895. He joined the West Kent regiment, an infantry regiment, but was quickly transferred to the Army Service Corps. He too saw service in South Africa during the Boer Wars from 1899 to 1902 [and hence does not appear in the 1901 census]. He was discharged, a sergeant, in 1907 but again served, in the Royal Army Service Corps, during the Great War. He was discharged at the end of that war as a Warrant Officer Class 1.
By the time of the 1911 census he was a driver for a local mineral water company in Dover and at that time he and Amy didn't have any children. We know that at some point thereafter they moved 7 miles down the coast to Folkestone. He died as a result of some form of infection so there was an inquest during which Amy described him as a journeyman house decorator.
