Thomas Harborow Inkson [THI] was the first of the family to be peripatetic [his children even more so] : he spent many decades working for a local railway company in Norfolk but then moved to London where he ran his own business.
He married Martha Garner just 28 days before their first child was born and they then went on to have at least 14 more although five died in infancy. In total, seven of the children went on to have children of their own.

Matilda May, daughter of Thomas Harborow and Martha Inkson, was baptised in the village church of Bygrave on 26 Aug 1865. A note written on the parish record notes that she died on 8 Sep 1865. Until we found this record in November 2020 we were not aware of the existence of another child, nor did we realise that Thomas and Martha had lived outside of Norfolk for a time. On the baptism certificate their address is given as Baldock Station Bygrave and Thomas's occupation is given as 'Station Master'.

Harry Garner, son of Thomas Harborow and Martha Inkson, was baptised in the village church of Burnham Sutton cum Ulph on 16 Sep 1866. Some researchers report his date of birth as 13 Aug 1866.
He joined the army in November 1887 when he would have been 21 but the army record states that he was 19 years 6 months? In that record he declares that he is a clerk and telegrapher and that he was refused entry into the army on a previous occasion because he was 'too short'. He rose through the ranks of the Royal Army Service Corps and was a Company Sergeant Major in the Boer war when he died in South Africa.
He was one of three of the brothers to serve in the RASC, the others being Percy Stanley [WWI, died at Dieppe in France] and Arthur Edward [also Boer war and then also WWI].
