The 1804 Inkson - Turnbull Marriage
George Inkson, bachelor, married Mary Turnbull, spinster, both 'of St Margaret parish', on October 31 1804 [Halloween : had she bewitched him?] in St Nicholas' Chapel in the parish of St Margaret, Kings Lynn. The witnesses were William Inkson and Mary Inkson and we know that George's father was William but who was Mary? George's parents married in 1780 but another researcher reports that his mother had already had a child called Mary in 1780 by an unknown father. Is this half sister or possibly sister the witness?
As with the 1801 marriage, it is assumption at the moment that these are the children of this marriage having been identified from the baptism records of St Margaret based on being children of 'George and Mary Inkson'. Another researcher gives more or less the same childrens' names but with different dates. What was interesting is that the researcher calls Mary 'Mary Ann' and there was a Mary Ann baptised in Kings Lynn a year after Mary but she was the daughter of John and Jane I..., a family that we were not even aware of.
This page was updated in August 2020 : there is now a lot of work required to follow the children down through the generations and into the censuses.
