William [b. ABT 1804] Family Group

Husband tree
noteWilliam Inkson was born, lived and died in Kings Lynn, Norfolk, England. He was one of the children of the Inkson - Harborow marriage of 1801 because his baptism record states that he is the son of 'Thomas and Ann Inkson' and they are the only couple with those names known at this time. He was baptised on 25 Jan 1804 so he was presumably born in late 1803 or early 1804.
In adult life he was a butcher like his father Thomas.
We now know that he and Sarah Ann née Slater, his wife, had at least nine children : three boys and six girls. Only the second son, Thomas Harborow, is known to have descendents into the 21st century.

Sarah Ann INKSON
noteSarah Ann emigrated to Victoria, Australia, landing in January 1863 and marrying an Edward Hanby on the 23rd of that same month so it must have been pre-arranged. The marriage record gives him as a 30 year old engine driver born in Kings Lynn to an Edward Hanby, butcher, and his wife Elizabeth née Rodgers but no record of such a birth has yet been found.
One researcher reports that Edward and Sarah Ann had five children together.

Harriet Jane INKSON
noteHarriet Jane didn't have a particularly good life :
She married Nevil Nuthall, a confectioner from Kings Lynn then living in Kingston on Thames London. She was probably staying with her aunt Sarah who had married a George Harborow as the marriage certificate gives her address as Percy Circus, Clerkenwell which was where the Harborows lived.
Nevil and Harriet Jane had a daughter Ida and then Nevil died suddenly in 1868 aged just 31.
In the 1871 census she and Ida are to be found living with her brother in law Benjamin Nuthall and his family. He ran a baker's shop on Norfolk Street in Kings Lynn.
At some point later, presumably after her sister Emily Mary died in 1875 [see below], they moved to 97 High Street Kings Lynn where her brother in law by marriage, John Henry Nokes, ran a boot shop. In the 1881 and 1891 censuses Harriet Jane is described as the housekeeper there. [In due course Ida married Alfred Nokes, John Henry's son]

William Henry INKSON
noteIs this the William Inkson who's death is registered in Q2 1854? There is no other trace of him so far.

Born: 16 Apr 1840 - Kings Lynn, Norfolk, ENGLAND
	 Marr:
	 Died:

Emily Mary INKSON
noteEmily Mary married John Henry Nokes who ran a shoemaker who's shop was further along the High Street from her father's butcher's shop. There is no identified date of the marriage but the last banns were read on 9 August 1862.
A well written source on the shops of Kings Lynn High Street records that Emily Mary and John Henry went on to have eight children, the first of whom - Alfred John - took over the boot making business from his father.
Emily Mary was only 33 when she died and sometime after that her older sister, Harriet Jane, took on the housekeeping responsibilities for John Henry

Born: 17 Sep 1842 - Kings Lynn, Norfolk, ENGLAND
Marr: Reg. Q3 1862 - Wormegay, Norfolk, ENGLAND
Died: Reg. Q4 1875 - Kings Lynn, Norfolk, ENGLAND

Margaret Frances INKSON
noteThe story of Margaret Frances' life is also tragic.
In 1873 she was engaged to be married to James Nuthall [it is not clear what relationship, if any, there might be between James and Nevil Nuthall who had married Harriet Jane Inkson in 1865]. The banns were published in full, the last on 1 Jun 1873 but the wedding didn't take place : there is a note on the banns register next to her name saying '(Dead)'.

Born: 13 Apr 1844 - Kings Lynn, Norfolk, ENGLAND
	 Marr:
Died: Reg. Q2 1873 - Holborn, London, ENGLAND

Eliza INKSON
Born: 22 Aug 1845 - Kings Lynn, Norfolk, ENGLAND
Died: 1846 - Kings Lynn, Norfolk, ENGLAND

Eliza Emma INKSON
noteEliza Emma is an enigma. She appears in the 1851 census but has disappeared by 1861 although there is no record of her death yet found
