George INKSON [b. ABT 1735] Family Group
Husband
George was baptised in St Nicholas' on the 15 Jan 1735 so there is a possibility that he was born in late 1734. It is assumed that the 'George Inkson the Elder' who was buried at St Nicholas', Kings Lynn, Norfolk on 16 Nov 1783 is this George.
It is also assumption that he is the George that went on to marry first Alice and then Margaret. One of the children of that second marriage was Thomas [b. 1772] who was very important in terms of the modern Inkson family and one of his grandchildren from William, his first child, was George [b. 17 Feb 1782] who was equally very important in terms of the modern Inkson family.

There are two possible candidates for Alice : one was Alice, daughter of Thomas and Martha Harris, baptised in Horstead [near Norwich] on 20 Jul 1739 having been born the same day; the other was Alice, daughter of Robert Harris, baptised in St Margaret's Kings Lynn on 28 Mar 1733. It is likely but not certain that she was the latter on the basis that people tended to remain local throughout their lives.
Whichever she was, we know when she died because Alice, wife of George Inkson, was buried at St Nicholas' on 9 Jan 1769.

George, 'son of George and Alice Inkson', was baptised in St Nicholas' on 26 Jul 1761.
He seems to have taken over the butcher's business from his father as a George Inkson, butcher of Kings Lynn, paid the fees to take on an Ambrose Stimpson as an apprentice in Nov 1798. He also appears in the 1806 Kings Lynn poll book as George Inkson, butcher and there is a handwritten note for his entry : 'dy'd 1811'.
He doesn't seem to have married or to have had a family
He was buried at South Lynn on 13 Jul 1811. What ties it all together is that we also have his probate record wherein he left some of his estate to his [step] sisters Sarah and Susanna.

Eleanor, 'daughter of George and Alice Inkson', was baptised in St Nicholas' on 16 Oct 1763.
What is not clear is what happened to her because of the 'Eleanor Enigma' : we have more life events for Eleanors than births. In addition to this Eleanor, there is Eleanor b. 1780 who was the daughter of William b. 1756, this Eleanor's brother.
An Eleanor, 'daughter of William Inkson', was buried at All Saints' on 29 Jan 1781. Was that Eleanor b. ABT 1780 or did she survive to adulthood and marry as below? If it isn't the second Eleanor then who is it?
There are also two Eleanor marriages : An Eleanor Inkson, spinster, married Joseph Bell, bachelor, in St Nicholas' on 29 Feb 1804; and an Eleanor Inkson, spinster, married John Hodgkinson bachelor in St Nicholas' on 04 Dec 1814.
This Eleanor would have been 41 in 1804 and the only Eleanor Bell death that fits was Eleanor, wife of Joseph, who was buried in St Margaret's on 26 Sep 1850 aged 73 so born ABT 1777. That is a better fit for Eleanor b. 1780 than this Eleanor. If that is correct then who was the Eleanor, daughter of William, buried in 1781?
[The Hodgkinson wedding is an even less likely fit for this Eleanor, particularly given that an Eleanor Hodgkinson, widow, was buried in St Margaret's on 25 Jun 1863 aged 74 so born ABT 1789. However, that doesn't even fit with Eleanor b. 1780 so may be a 'red herring'.]

We only know of this child from her burial record : Alice, 'daughter of George Inkson' was buried in St Nicholas' on 20 Mar 1771. It is just possible that she was the daughter of George and Margaret : George's first wife Alice was buried in Jan 1769 and he married Margaret in October that year; Mary - their first child - was baptised in May 1770 and Thomas - their second - was only baptised in January 1772

Wife 2
There are three possible candidates for Margaret : one was Margaret, daughter of John and Alice Chapman, baptised in St Nicholas' Kings Lynn on 28 Mar 1750, the second was Margaret, daughter of William Chapman [no mother mentioned], baptised in St Margaret's Kings Lynn on 16 Sep 1750 and the third was Margaret, daughter of Joseph and Alice Chapman, baptised in Horstead [near Norwich] on 28 Mar 1753. On the marriage bond for George's marriage to Margaret, a William Chapman stood 'bondsman' so it is tempting to assume that it was the second Margaret that married George.
A Margaret Inkson was buried at St Nicholas' in Kings Lynn on 18 Apr 1797 but she is described as a widow and we know that George only died in 1811. There are no other records of Inkson deaths that might be that of Margaret, George's wife, so perhaps the George who died in 1811 was not this George?
