George INKSON [b. ABT 1710] Family Group
Husband
There are two possible candidates for George : one was Gorg [sic], son of Thomas and Margaret Inkson, baptised at St Nicholas' on 30 Mar 1710; the other was a George, son of George and Alice born in 1704 but no parish records have yet been found for this George.
It seems fairly certain that, whenever he was born, he married first Lucy Richardson and secondly Elizabeth Metcalf. The first child of that second marriage, George b. ABT 1735, was very important in terms of the modern Inkson family because he was the father of Thomas b. 1772 who married Ann Harborow in 1801 and, by a different line, the grandfather of George b. 17 Feb 1782 who married Mary Turnbull in 1804.
George was a butcher in Kings Lynn. Now that his probate record [Elizabeth, his widow, was Executrix] has come to light we know that he is almost certainly the George Inkson who was buried at All Saints' South Lynn on 2 Aug 1753. Because he died intestate the record is a very full list of his assets.

Lucy, daughter of William and Lucy Richardson, was baptised in St Nicholas' on 10 Sep 1710. The exact date of her marriage to George is illegible in the parish records : it could be a day in Mar(ch) or a day in May 1728. Note that they were not married in Kings Lynn where they both lived but in Bagthorpe, some 20km north east of Kings Lynn as the crow flies, so Lucy was probably already pregnant although there is no subsequent baptism record to be found.
Lucy was buried All Saints' South Lynn on 9 May 1730.

George INKSONThere are no parish records yet found for George : it is hearsay from other researchers that is recorded here. His grandfather - if George b. 1729 existed - William Richardson, assigned some land in Kings Lynn to George b. ABT 1710 on condition that Lucy did not die without issue during her father's lifetime. The assignment is reportedly dated 1730 so even if the baby did exist he is discounted in terms of the proviso.

Wife 2
There is only one Norfolk baptism record for an Elizabeth Metcalf and that is Elizabeth, daughter of William and Mary Metcalf, who was baptised in St Lawrence's Norwich on 13 Jan 1717 so it is assumption that she was the Elizabeth Metcalf who was living in Swaffham in 1733 when George married an Elizabeth Metcalf. Arguing against that is the fact that a William and Elizabeth Metcalf were living in Swaffham from at least 1715 when the birth of a son appears in the parish records. Some researchers state that this couple were the William Metcalf and Elizabeth Lilly who married in 1709 elsewhere in Norfolk. If that is correct then they could well have had a daughter Elizabeth between say 1710 and 1715.
She is thought to be the Elizabeth Inkson who was buried at All Saints' South Lynn on 16 Sep 1776.

George INKSONThis is the George who was the father of Thomas b. ABT 1772 [who married Ann Harborow in 1801] and grandfather, through his first child William b. ABT 1756, of George b. 1782 [who married Mary Turnbull in 1804].
The baptism record for George b. 1735 is for 'George, son of George' without any mother being named so it is assumption that his mother was Elizabeth Inkson née Metcalf and hence that he was a son of this marriage.
