Gravestone in churchyard at Thornham says that THI died aged 70 [hence DoB deduced], that Grannie, his wife, was born on 22/9/1837 and that their son Harry Garner died in Johannesburg.
Thanks to the British Census, we now know quite a bit about the life of THI.

Little is known of this brother, the living nephews/nieces not remembering having heard of him. What we do know comes from public records. He joined the army at 18 and served until 1907 before joining again at the outbreak of the Great War. He too served in South Africa during the Boer War and survived, unlike his brother Harry Garner.

Thomas Henry - the Forgotten Son - seems to have been kept out of the family, perhaps because he was conceived out of wedlock. He and his family are alive and well in Norwich in 1901 but happens thereafter?
