Lottie Garner Dainty née Inkson b: 18 May 1868 Burnham, Norfolk
Lottie Garner was the eighth child [sixth to survive to adulthood] of Thomas Harborow b. 16 Dec 1834 and Martha née Garner. By the time that she was born, her father had been station master at Burnham Sutton for at least two years, a post that he held for the many years thereafter. Her date of birth is confirmed by the 1939 England Register.
In 1891 the census record places her in a house on Cromwell Rd, Kensington, just down the road from the Natural History Museum. She is described as a housemaid. At that time Harry Dainty, her future husband, was still living at home in Northamptonshire with his parents so we don't know how or when the two met but assume that Harry also went to London and that they met there. They married in early 1898 in Lewisham, south London, where Lottie Garner's parents then lived.
By the time of the 1901 census they were living in Marylebone, west London, with their twin sons, then two years old. However, the twins are noted as born in Lewisham so did they initially live in Lewisham after getting married or did Lottie Garner go to her mother for the birth even though their home was on the far side of London?
We know from the 1911 and 1921 census records that Lottie Garner and Harry had five children in total, all of whom survived to adulthood.
