James INKSON b. 21 October 1918 Mary's Cottages, Monkstown Farm, Monkstown, Dublin

James [Jimmy] was the fourth and last child of George Harborow b. 29 Sep 1873 and Bridget Mary née Keatinge. At the time of his birth, the family would have been living in Lewisham, south east London, but because George Harborow was at sea, Bridget Mary again opted to travel 'home' to Ireland for his birth [as she had done the year before for the birth of John Cherry].

He followed his father into the Union Castle Line but as shore staff rather than as a sea-going crew member. He worked for the line for all his working life except during the war and for a few years in the mid-1950's when he was called up during the Suez Crisis.
