Elsie Mary Joyce née Plumb b. 28 May 1888 Lewisham, London

Elsie Mary was the oldest child of Thomas Plumb and his wife Alice Walters née Inkson, so a descendent of the 1801 Inkson - Harborow marriage through William and then Thomas Harborow Inkson. There is no baptism record but her date of birth is from family records.

She married Herbert Conway Joyce in late 1917 in Lewisham. He had been born in England but emigrated to Canada in 1905 where he was a 'butter maker' in a creamery, returning to Europe to fight in WW1. She had also emigrated to Canada in 1909 but it is not clear whether they knew each other in Canada, nor when she returned to England. The marriage banns were called in Liverpool but the marriage was actually registered in Lewisham. They moved back to Canada - presumably after the war - and raised their family in Manitoba.

There is no family group page available but if you want to delve deeper then Kim Hunt's tree, 'The Joyces and the Plumbs' on ancestry.com will help you.
