Percy DOSSETT b. 15 Jan 1893 Caistor, Lincolnshire
We know a little bit more about Percy in adulthood than we know about his half brother Albert Arthur junior. In the 1911 census he was an 18 year old still living at home and working as an apprentice hairdresser. His uncle by marriage, George William Neal, was a hairdresser less than 2 km away so maybe that was to whom he was apprenticed? By 1913 he was listed in local directories as a hairdresser in his own right.
He presumably fought in the Great War and there are records of a Private Percy Dossett in the East Yorkshire Regiment. He survived that war and married a Williamina [aka Wilhamina] J WILKINS in Q4 1919. In 1923 and 1935 local directories he was listed as a painter and in the General Register of 1939 he is listed as a painter in a ship repairing yard. He was living at time with Williamina J and Williamina Z, presumably their daughter. Living with them is also Anthony Wilkins, a 75 year old retired chimney sweep assumed to be Percy's father-in-law.
The deaths of both Percy and Williamina J were registered in Q2 1977 in Grimsby. It is only from the entry for Williamina J that we know that her middle name was Jane.
We know from the annotation in the 1939 register that Williamina Z went on to marry a man called Perry and, indeed, there was a marriage in Q4 1943 where a Norman C Perry married a Williamina L [presumably a miss-transcription of Z] Dossett in Grimsby. She died in late 1993 in Grimsby when she was noted as Williamina Zilpah [after her grandmother] Perry.
